The Pastor’s Wife in Suriname

“Hi Mrs Cristiane,

How are you? I know you are very busy with so many projects and I regret not speaking to you personally when we were close…After such a long time without having wives’ meeting, it helped me so much to hear everyone’s experiences and how God has acted in the life of those who make themselves available.

Here, it’s a fight! At the moment (since I arrived here, apart from all the pastors and wives that just can’t seen to stay), I am by myself looking after five single assistant pastors. I spend my days cooking, taking care of their clothes, cleaning the house, the church, the office, taking care of the prayer book and the list goes on…but one thing God spoke to me in a strong way when we were in our last meeting; “In what has the devil been stronger than me?” And I focused on this when I went back. And if I haven’t been saving souls, then he’s been keeping me busy with things that are not the work of God! And that’s what I have been analysing and focusing on and I already have new projects…

In May, I will start meetings with the married women and restart the one with the young girls. Up until February, I was doing a meeting with the young girls but saw that I wasn’t giving my best due to many responsibilities.

I started getting rid of everything that distracts me from the things of God and as a result I see that I am able to do all that I need to…I will no longer allow the devil to keep me busy with petty things and I am now going to focus on what really matters.

You know Mrs Cristiane, sometimes I miss someone to talk to, to share an idea with or an inspiration, but I remember His promise straight away: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

And I know that I need to be here more than Suriname needs me! What I have been learning and experiencing here, no one would be able to teach me. It’s coming straight from God and He is preparing me for greater challenges, I am sure. I enjoyed seeing you again and I was blessed through the meeting we had.
Kisses, Darlene- Suriname”

I wanted to make sure I shared this email with all my readers because I found in it a faith we should all have. This young pastor’s wife, that worked with me years ago in London, is now doing the work of God in a different country, a different language, far from everyone and alone and she is a testimony of those who serve God on the altar for real. Notice how her time is consumed with serving God and the little that’s left for her, she sacrifices it to serve even more.
Her and other pastor’s wives I know, know what sacrificing is about. They don’t have children to have more time to serve. They are unknown women, but so precious before God. It so good to work with them and it’s a great pleasure to get to know them! Her life of sacrifice gives me more strength to carry on doing even more. I ask all my readers to pray for them-they are jewels.

Yes Mrs Cris they are indeed jewels. That’s why we should appreciate them and not judge them. God put them where they are for a reason. To use them to be blessings to us…whether we realise it or not.

This letter Mrs Cris is great,Mrs Darlene’s faith is one I have to follow and put into practice. What got my attention was her question” where does the devil defeat me?” I have to always be stronger than the devil in everything, I can not let him have a hold over anything, I am a woman of God and my God is stronger than him.
I will be praying for the woman of God who are on the altar living a life of sacrifice. She is strong in everyway, this is how I want to be and I know now how to be, through my focus on God and my faith which should grow stronger not weak with situations.
    Thank you for sharing.

I with all my heart pray that God may keep them shining and serve more and to inspire us with the desire to be used by God as they are and more one day.

This is actually great to know that time not used to save souls or to meditate on the things of God, only the devil takes advantage of.. And I realised this was happenng to me.. If our goal/minds is not do God’s will then who’s will are we doing.. Obviously the devil’s!

My life has to be entirely for SOULS <3

    Dear Mrs Cris

Thank you again to share with us this message is very strong and is a wake up call as-well ,because some times we become busy with so many things and for get the main reason why we are here to save souls, as the bible says wise is the man who win souls.

When we cook, iron, clean, do the files of the church or work in the office etc, we not saving souls even though we are helping and there are so many people dying without salvation, people are far from God and not to mention that we have many people who needs help inside the church, they need someone to talk to and to encourage them, they need our help.

    Thank you.

  6. Wow! That’s the real sacrifice; its true that these Woman are jewel. We need to pray for them for the church of God needs more like them.

That’s really the love of God for these woman have sacrifice their lives(some their studies, jobs, busines, families even more) to serve God not to work for money .

Really there is no place like my spiritual home(UCKG)

  7. Thank you for sharing with us Mrs. Cris for this has inspried me to carry on and give more of myself. You know what I love about reading this is that she never complain, never disputed, but on the contraire she wanted to push herself more and more and this makes me reflect on myself even more, she is indeed a true servant because no one sees her, she is invisible to men, but to God she is very visible.

I will be keeping them in my prayers.

    Thank you once again.

Mrs Cristiane I will pray as requested, thank you so much for sharing with us,

I have learned something for myself in this post, when God wants to mould or teach us great lessons He does not take us to a classroom but to a desert where there is no one but you and Him and thats where one becomes a true jewel of God,after you have been refined.
